Oh goodie...yet another biography to write on myself. *lol*
Let's see how short I can keep the run-down. I'm long-winded, but maybe I can avoid a novel.
My name is Shannon, I'm 24, and I'm from Michigan but currently live in Auckland, New Zealand. I graduated in 2006 from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Fisheries & Wildlife, specializing in GIS. Now I'm back in graduate school working on my post-graduate diploma of science in GIS at the University of Auckland. Prior to that I spent 14 months living in Iowa City, IA working as a baker for Panera Bread. I'm an avid traveler, spent a year studying in the UK, and do a heck of a lot of hiking. I am also a bookworm, writer, dancer, rollerblader, and amateur photographer. Being 5'10" I'm very handy for fetching things from the top shelf. Blonde hair and blue eyes, however, have thus far failed in furthering my plans for world domination. I went dark brunette last July and it seems to intimidate more people. Maybe that will help.
I tend to think of myself as genuine, down to earth, and fun-loving. But that might just be the ego talking. I might be a real boob. You'd have to ask the people who know me in person. That I'm loyal and care deeply for people doesn't need a second opinion. I also am most assuredly goofy and look for ways to have a good time in just about any situation. Not that I can't be serious, of course. I can be professional, in control, and step up to take charge/lead just about anything if the occasion calls for it. But I prefer to be a goof...tis way more fun. I do a fantastic impression of a broccoli. It never fails to make people laugh, or at the least blink in bewilderment and hopefully smile. ;)
I'll be the first to confess I'm a massive geek. I've spent the last decade addicted to Robert Jordan's fantasy book series, The Wheel of Time, and in addition to having held multiple administrative roles at several fan sites over the years, I started and still oversee my own community The Great Hall. If you're a WoT fan you'll probably know me better (if you've seen me around) as Eniara Kisharad. I also regularly attend Dragon*Con, have served as D*Con staff for the WoT track, and had the fabulous opportunity a couple years ago to attend a private dinner with Robert Jordan and his lovely wife. :D
More recently I've added a second addiction...Xena: Warrior Princess. I watched the show a fair bit when it orginally aired, but it didn't grab me then and it's only in the last year that I've rediscovered and fallen in love with it. I'd put it on a par with my WoT addiction actually, and that astounds even me. Along with immersing myself in the show and its surrounding fandom, I've developed a deep admiration for Lucy Lawless. She both awes and inspires me, in innumerable ways, and for the first time in my life I find myself a hardcore "fan" of a "celebrity." She's earned it.
I'm trying to think what else to write that isn't totally worthless drivel. I'm looking to expand my Xena friend-network, so if you're reading this and you're a fan, drop me a line. I write in my lj quite a lot. Much of it is privated to select groups of friends, depending on the topic. If, however, what I have to say I don't mind the world knowing then I leave it open to everyone in the hope that (if it isn't a waste of time like a quiz) it might inspire or touch someone else. My attitude to online journaling is that someone other than myself will always be able to read what I write, and I will share as much as I feel I can with as many as I feel comfortable. Provided they can wade through my never-ending rambling, anyway. I usually cross-post my YouTube video blogs here and I certainly post any news that I have to report, including any good photos I've happened to shoot lately. I've been debating starting up a second blog for my thoughts about current events and random issues, but as yet haven't done so. I'll post the link here if I do.

And that, ladies and gents, is all for now. You may have your pogo sticks back and continue on your way.
